The Spokane Primer
Dublin Core
Title
Description
Not only was Walker the first to turn the Spokane language into a written form, “The Spokane Primer” was also the first item published by a resident of what is now Washington state. The book contains 12 lessons of words, numbers, and moral and Biblical instructions. Roughly two-thirds of the text has been able to be translated to English. The primer can be found with the book "Nine Years with the Spokane Indians: The Diary of Elkanah Walker" by Clifford M. Drury. Front cover, page 1-3.
