Plains Indian flute

Dublin Core

Replica of a Plains Indian flute. Interior Salish music resembles Plains musical styles in terms of instruments, tonality, and phrase patterns. Typically, wooden flutes such as these are used in the performance of love songs. Carved by Michael Johnson, Washington state, in the late 1950s.

Traditional music is a main theme of Reservation Blues, and Alexie mentions cedar flutes both in this book and in other works.
